Solution Architect

**This role has Contract & Perm options, candidates must be based in Ontario - no visa sponsorship available for the position**

The ideal candidate will be responsible for working cross-functionally to understand architecture needs by multiple business units. To be effective in this position, you must feel comfortable owning the entire architecture development process from inception to completion.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the definition of the solution architecture of all application, data upgrade and reporting solutions used in Accounts Upgrade project
  • Developing the company’s strategy on Accounts Upgrade project for using technological resources
  • Ensuring technologies are used efficiently and securely
  • Evaluating and implementing new systems and infrastructure
  • Manage cross-functional product team in creation of cloud and on-prem application product that including Guidewire PC/BC/CM product, centralized Data store, legacy data warehouses and legacy system
  • Provide insight and manage all technology relate aspects with presentations and communications at senior management
  • Develop and maintain current and planned state architectural blueprints
  • Develop and maintain architectural road map for the enterprise
  • Communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals and strategies
  • Provide architectural direction to Enterprise Architects, Application Architects, Data & Reporting Architects and Solution Architects
  • Develop architectural metrics and reports for the executive team, business and IT management
  • Ensure that project documentation captures significant architectural decisions
  • Ensure that architectural governance is a fair, consistent and transparent process
  • Identify architectural risks and propose alternatives and solutions

 

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in design, development and architecture of systems – preferably within insurance
  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading other architects
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with GW insurance suite
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with reporting products (either GW reporting products or custom built reporting data warehouses)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience of P&C Insurance
  • Minimum 5 years of hands on experience in solution design and development
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in enterprise application software products, as well as hosted, cloud-based systems
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with hosted platforms specifically utilizing AWS and Azure technologies

  • Can lead proof-of-concept and prototyping efforts
  • Can coach other architects to lead
  • Demonstrated success in coordinating technical strategy across multiple product families
  • Collaborative leadership style and ability to earn the respect of a talented engineering team
