About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Terraform Cloud Specialist to join our team. The professional will focus on improving the hygiene, scalability, and efficiency of our Terraform codebase and platform, including Terraform versions, module versions, and provider versions. This role will involve designing, managing, and collaborating on new and existing Terraform modules to address developer needs and enhance infrastructure automation. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our Terraform platform and workflows, enabling scalable and efficient infrastructure solutions for the organization.

A day in this role:

  • Terraform Code Hygiene: Audit and improve the organization’s Terraform codebase,  ensuring consistency in Terraform versions, module versions, and provider versions.
  • Module Development: Design, implement, and maintain reusable Terraform modules for common infrastructure components such as S3 buckets, ECS services, and RDS databases.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development, operations, and cloud teams to identify infrastructure challenges and deliver Terraform-based solutions.
  • • Platform Optimization: Enhance the performance and reliability of Terraform Cloud workflows, ensuring scalability and security.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for Terraform modules, workflows, and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and long-term sustainability.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to Terraform configurations, modules, and deployments.
  • Automation and Standards: Drive the adoption of automation and standardized practices across the organization’s Terraform workflows.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in
  • Terraform and infrastructure as code (IaC), proactively recommending and implementing Improvements

 The expertise requested:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree: Typically in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Terraform Expertise: Proven experience in Terraform, with a deep understanding of
  • Terraform Cloud workflows, module development, and infrastructure as code principles.
  • Infrastructure Knowledge: Familiarity with AWS, containerization (e.g., ECS), and database
  • services (e.g., RDS).
  • Versioning: Expertise in managing and upgrading Terraform versions, module versions, and provider versions
  • Experience automating and using command lines on Linux environment.
  • Exhibits strong proficiency in English, with excellent communication skills and the ability to convey ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Team player with excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience in diagnosing and resolving complex issues in production environments.
  • Is comfortable working with and supporting different users.
  • Proven experience working and collaborating in a team layout and with remote team members.
  • Strong skills in creating clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex issues
  • Skilled in task prioritisation, deadline management, and adapting to shifting priorities.
  • Dedicated to continuous learning and staying current with industry best practices and trends in Terraform and IaC.

Desired or nice to have expertise:

  • Certified on AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or similar.
  • Terraform Associate Certification
