What will you do?

 

You will act as the technical lead within a cloud‑native data engineering environment, driving architectural decisions, building scalable data pipelines and guiding the engineering team through best practices in development, automation and system design. You will work directly with analysts and business stakeholders, ensuring accurate interpretation of requirements, while also overseeing performance, reliability and continuous improvement of data solutions across the platform.

 

Your tasks

 

  • Lead the design and development of cloud‑based data solutions
  • Create, maintain, and optimise large‑scale data pipelines with PySpark or Scala
  • Guide engineering practices, conduct code reviews and support knowledge sharing
  • Act as SME for data migration initiatives, defining approach and estimations
  • Collaborate with analysts to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Contribute to planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives
  • Implement tooling for performance, availability, monitoring and automation
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across pipelines, infrastructure and cloud services
  • Introduce and develop CI/CD and automation improvements
  • Manage workflow orchestration using Airflow or similar tools

 

Your skills

 

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering and data platforms
  • Strong experience with PySpark or Scala
  • Hands‑on expertise with Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with workflow orchestration (Airflow or similar)
  • Knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem: Spark, Hive, YARN, MapReduce, ETL frameworks
  • Strong SQL knowledge and experience in building robust data pipelines
  • Proficiency in Python and Unix/Linux environments
  • Experience with Git/GitHub, Jenkins, Ansible and CI/CD automation
  • Strong debugging and problem‑solving skills
  • Understanding of cloud design patterns
  • Ability to work autonomously and lead a pod of engineers
  • Strong English communication skills

 

Nice to have

 

  • Experience with ElasticSearch
  • Experience developing Java APIs
  • Hands‑on experience with ingestion frameworks
  • Exposure to DevOps, Scrum and Kanban methodologies
