As an Application Support Engineer, you will be responsible for resolving Application Support requests and incidents for a critical trading application used by a Top Tier Investment Banks. You will be working directly with Business and IT users, so must have strong client facing skills. You will follow the best practices to deliver quality in all aspects of Level 2 support. You will participate on an out of hours on-call support rota and performing occasional weekend work. Technical tasks include monitoring, detecting and troubleshooting issues in Linux application environments, responding to queries regarding application functionality, working with vendors on upgrades, preparing and testing software and configuration changes as well as some shell scripting to automate common tasks. As a team player, you will recommend ways to improve the supportability, availability, efficiency of the application, procedure and working practices.
Requirements:
- Strong client facing and communication skills
- Fluent English
- Practical knowledge of Linux/Unix systems
- Practical knowledge of SQL
- Basic Bash and Python scripting knowledge
- Ability to solve problems independently
- Ability to work in a team environment
- 1st or 2nd Line of Support background and experience as an Application Support Engineer
- General CI/CD (DevOps process) knowledge
- Availability for work in shifts
