This is a contract position with no sponsorship option

We are seeking an experienced Lead Data Migration Architect to lead the end-to-end design and execution of large-scale data migration and ETL transformation programs within a complex banking environment. This is a senior-level contractor position suited for professionals with a strong background in financial services, large-scale legacy-to-modern system migrations, and hands-on technical leadership in data architecture and engineering.


Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the data migration strategy for complex banking platforms.
  • Design and architect scalable ETL frameworks and data migration pipelines.
  • Lead data profiling, cleansing, transformation, and loading processes across heterogeneous source and target systems.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, data stewards, and technical teams to understand data requirements and ensure data integrity and governance throughout the migration.
  • Oversee data mapping, validation, reconciliation, and cutover planning activities.
  • Provide technical leadership to data engineers, analysts, and developers involved in the migration program.
  • Document architecture, processes, and best practices; ensure adherence to compliance and security standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or ETL leadership roles.
  • Proven track record in leading large-scale data migration projects in the banking or financial services sector.
  • Strong experience with major ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, DataStage, SSIS) and modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue).
  • In-depth knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and big data technologies.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, lineage, and data quality management.
  • Experience working in regulated environments with high data sensitivity (e.g., core banking, payments, KYC, regulatory reporting).
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud data migration (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with core banking systems and data models (e.g., Temenos, Finacle).
  • Certifications in data architecture, cloud platforms, or ETL technologies
