We are looking for a technologist to join the GFT team and help build out our rapidly expanding Azure business. This position will be based in London but national and international travel will be required. GFT is a Global Partner with Microsoft. We have offices in 11 countries and an international staff numbering around 5,000. We have 100’s of certified Azure engineers globally.

 

We have created a new role – Azure Customer Engineer - within the team to strengthen our relationship with Microsoft in the UK. Customer Engineers work within our key accounts. This role is to work closely with both Microsoft PS and the clients highly technical engineering teams on strategic transformation projects for one of the largest financial institution in the world, helping with design, planning and implementation of the newest Azure technologies within a highly regulated environment. The role will be split between delivery - working across multiple projects helping the teams scale, enable cross-team communication as well as pre-sales – helping with writing proposals & unveiling new opportunities.

 

Key Capabilities

 

  • Demonstrated thought leadership in emerging technologies
  • Understanding of the interaction of alternate technologies with incumbent technology (looking for industry / technology awareness)
  • Strong technical management background particularly in either DevOps or solution architecture
  • Ability to identify and manage complex technical deliverables to meet program requirements
  • Balancing best of breed technical implementation with the commercial / business schedule and work within budget imperatives
  • Stakeholder engagement and influencing
  • Strong technical architectural and design skills
  • Ability to articulate an enterprise level minimum vial cloud and the approached need to build guide rails for that transformation
  • Experience with Azure Subscription Management, Policy, RBAC, Security centre and Management Groups to ensure guide rails around enterprise Azure accounts and supporting controls for common services required by a large enterprise such as a bank
  • Experience of a second cloud is beneficial but not essential

 

Technical Skills

 

  • Knowledge of Big Data frameworks
  • Knowledge of Streaming frameworks: Azure Event Hub
  • Data science experience such as: delivering models in production, Jupyter notebook, XGBoost, Classification, Sagemaker is beneficial
  • Exposure to Data warehousing platforms: Azure Data warehouse, Snowflake or other MPP like Netezza or Exadata
  • Must have Cloud platform knowledge: Azure, plus some exposure to AWS or OpenShift etc.
  • Api integration and microservice design experience is essential
  • NoSQL and SQL knowledge: e.g. CosmosDB, MongoDB, PostGRESQL, MYSQL, Oracle, SQLServer
  • Serverless architecture knowledge: Lambda, Kubeless, Azure functions
  • Documentation and Process: Jira, Confluence, GitHub
  • DevOps tooling: Jenkins, Team City, Bitbucket pipelines, Azure DevOps
  • Infrastructure as code: Azure Resource Manager, Chef, Terraform, Ansible

  • Demonstrated an aptitude in sales centric roles, typically in support of key sales personnel.
