Role Summary 
We are looking for a technologist to join the GFT team and help build out our rapidly expanding Azure business. This position will be based in London but limited international travel may be required. The potential and variety of the work that GFT is supporting our clients with is truly mind-blowing.

 

Key Capabilities

  • Understanding of the interaction of alternate technologies with incumbent technology (looking for industry / technology awareness)
  • Ability to manage complex technical deliverables to meet program requirements
  • Design and build modern data pipelines and data streams
  • Design and build data service APIs
  • Expose data to end users using Power BI, Azure API Apps or other modern visualization platform or experience
  • Participate in various governance forums to get approval for the architecture artefacts and also present possible options to resolve any ongoing architecture challenges
  • Balancing best of breed technical implementation with the commercial / business schedule and work within budget imperatives
  • Support the planning and implementation of data platform services including sizing, configuration, and needs assessment
  • Implement effective metrics and monitoring processes
  • Ability to manage small teams to deliver to deadlines
  • Knowledge of Architectural frameworks and standards such as TOGAF.
  • Knowledge of development practices in a DevOps culture.
  • Identify business risks and be able to mitigate and communicate effectively

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • You will join a project engineering team and focus on adding design and hands-on expertise, ensuring outcomes meet the highest technical and agile standards.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in delivering cloud-native applications on Azure
  • Knowledge of Azure & it’s core services; Subscriptions, VNETs, Storage Accounts, Application Gateways, SQL, CosmosDB, Virtual Machines
  • Knowledge of basic Azure security controls; NSGs, Firewalls, Security Centre & Azure Policy
  • Previous Azure data experience of the following services: Datalake, DataBricks, Synapse, HDInsight, SQL Server
  • Knowledge of Big Data frameworks such as: Apache Spark, EMR, Hadoop (demonstrable hands-on experience beneficial but not essential)
  • Knowledge of Streaming frameworks: Spark streaming, Apache Flink, Apache Kafka, Azure Event Hub (demonstrable hands-on experience beneficial but not essential)
  • Data science experience such as: delivering models in production, Jupyter notebook, XGBoost, Classification, Sagemaker is beneficial
  • Exposure to ETL/ELT tools such as: Airflow, SSIS, Azure Data Factory
  • Experience with data visualization using Power BI, SAS VA, and Power Pivot
  • Tabular models (DAX) in Visual Studio
  • Strong in data Governance, including Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Quality tools and processes
  • Scripting ability (ideally Python, Scala & T-SQL)
  • Demonstrate the ability to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Have experience in stakeholder management within complex organisations.
  • Documentation: Jira, Confluence
